Cyrel Troster has an Honours BA in Fine Art and B.Ed from the University of Toronto. She was the Visual Arts Department Head at Unionville High School in York Region where she designed the regional arts school (Arts York) visual art programme. She taught in the pre-service program of the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto and is now Principal of the Additional Qualifications in Visual Art summer program. She has taken art courses in Japan, England, and Tennessee. Cyrel is a past President of OAEA and has written visual art curriculum documents for Ontario Ministry of Education. She is a member of the Woodlawn Pottery Studio, where she works in a sculptural style using the portrait as a focus for her clay work.
